Morales: Nobody wants to see Floyd vs. Berto

Mexican boxing legend Erik Morales is not a fan of the reported fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Andre Berto as he believes it will be far from a competitive affair.
Mayweather is reportedly set to fight Berto on September 12 in Las Vegas, in what the American has repeatedly said will be the final fight of his glittering professional career.
Yet Morales, a former world champion, is skeptical of the match-up.
"Floyd is very intelligent, and he continues to demonstrate his skill. I don't think it's a very competitive bout," Morales told ESPN Deportes, as quoted by Boxing Scene.
"It's two fighters who, without being racist, almost nobody wants to see," he added. "Perhaps the fight is interesting for them, but for us, not."
Morales pointed out that Berto has been beaten by two fighters that Mayweather has already defeated, Victor Ortiz and Marcos Maidana.
"He does not want to take a risk," Morales said of Mayweather. "He has never wanted to take a risk, and he doesn't want to take a risk now."
Berto was one of two fighters that Mayweather named as potential opponents, the other being Karim Mayfield. TMZ Sports reported earlier this week that a deal with Berto was already done, but a recent report on Boxing Scene claimed the details are still being finalized.
Boxing Scene cited a source close to Mayweather who said the fighter will announce his fight next week. A different source close to Berto, meanwhile, has said that the boxer has not been officially informed that he will fight Mayweather.
"We're waiting like everyone else," the source said.
Mayweather is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Manny Pacquiao last May 2, the so-called "Fight of the Century" that failed to live up to the massive hype.
