National light middleweight champion, Sule ‘Tyson’ Olagbade, will aim for a knock out when he meets challenger Rasheed ‘Afonja Warrior’ Abolaji in their 12-round title fight at the GOtv Boxing Night holding on July 26 at the National Stadium.
“I’m a knockout king and I believe Abolaji will not go beyond the third round. I have trained hard and my opponent will know what it means to fight a champion. He should ask all the boxers I defeated before getting to this stage, none of them lasted till the last round,” Olagbade boasted.
But Abolaji dismissed Olagbade’s threat, insisting he would dispossess the champion of his title before his fans.
A former amateur champion Olaide Fijabi, who will be facing Kazeem ‘Iberu’ Ariyo in an eight-round light welterweight contest on the same day, warned his opponent ahead of their contest.
“His nickname means fear but he should be afraid of me. I won’t have mercy on him because I will punch him to submission,” Fijabi, who will be fighting his second professional bout, said.
GOtv Boxing Night, a six-fight professional boxing event, will also see fights between Nigeria’s Helen Johnson and Gifty Ankrah of Ghana, while Nurudeen Fatai will take on Chibuzor Obi in an eight-round lightweight duel. Sunday Ajuwa is billed to fight Femi Ajayi in an eight-round cruiserweight challenge.
The event, which will be broadcast live on SuperSport, will see the best boxer on the night going home with N1m for his performance.
