Amir Khan has one last shot against Floyd Mayweather

British boxing star Amir Khan knows the possibility of facing Floyd Maywather in the ring this year is remote following the unbeaten champion's announcement limiting his choice to only two challengers which did not include Khan's name.

Earlier Mayweather named Andre Berto and Karim Mayfield as possible opponents for his next scheduled fight. Unconfirmed reports indicate that Mayweather will choose Berto over Mayfield and the official announcement will be made within the week.
Despite Mayweather's announcement that he will be retiring after his Sept. 12 fight, public perception indicate that he will go for his 50th win to break Rocky Marciano's 49-0 career record.
Khan is expected to fight later this year but no one has come forward to challenge the former Olympic silver medalist except Kell Brook who has been calling out Khan for a title fight
But Khan isn't in a hurry to face Brook saying he's looking at 2016 to give him more time to prove himself first against top competitors in the division.
“You’ve got Kell Brook there still. What I’ve said about that is let’s build him up so that the fight is bigger in the future. There’s no point taking a fight now when down the line it could be one of the biggest fights in UK history, Khan toldsport360.com.
“Look at Mayweather-Pacquiao. People waited five years for that and look how much that generated. Around $500 million – 45 minutes for half a billion! With Kell Brook, I want him to fight the likes of Marcos Maidana, Timothy Bradley and beat those guys. I want him to build his name so it’s not only a big fight in the UK, it’s a big fight around the world."
Khan has good points but who will he face when he returns to the ring late this year?
A surprise challenger came forward in Shane Mosley, who nearly won over Mayweather when he wobbled the unbeaten champ in the second round of their title fight in 2010
Mosley had Mayweather in trouble for the first time in his career but managed to stay on his feet until the round was over as Mosley failed to finish him inside round 2.
Mosley said if Mayweather refuses to fight Khan , he will fight Khan after getting over with Ricardo Mayorga (31-8-1, 25 KOs) at The Forum in Inglewood, California next month.
“If Mayweather don’t want to take on @AmirKingKhan then Mosley will. Any1 who wants these hands can get it,” Mosley said on his Twitter. “Everyone knows I would shatter Khan’s jaw.”
Mosley is a good prospect for Khan's year end fight and if he wins, he can then resume calling out Mayweather for his historic 50th fight next year.
