What Are You Willing To Fight For?

There have been times in my life – as I reflect upon it I am sad to say– that I have been a coward.
But then there have been other times, more in comparison I am proud to say, when I have risen to the challenge, learnt from my mistakes, and stood up to fight like a man.
Becoming a granddad has reinforced the fight within me.
And what fight might that be?
The fight for both mine and my family’s future. The fight to fulfill my destiny. The fight to pull out of this life as much potential as I possibly can. The fight for goodness. The fight for truth. The fight for excellence. The fight for wealth. The fight for health. The fight for yet unfulfilled dreams.

I Could Have Killed – I Could Have Died

Sounds dramatic – but the facts are that on a night, not so long ago, as both myself and members of my family, including my young grand daughter, were having dinner in a restaurant, a fight broke out only a short distance away between two men.
Supposedly they were mates. But for some reason the younger man was offended by something the older man had said, and within seconds a disturbance erupted in this busy restaurant. Punches were thrown and one man landed on the ground close by to my family and me.
Without thinking, both my son-in-law and I jumped to our feet and physically grabbed both these men – seeking to appease and break up the kerfuffle. I found myself yelling at both of the men to stop this stupid alcohol fuelled fight.
I was fighting for my daughter and my brand new grand daughter, and was willing to do whatever it took to protect them from harm
In one split second I was ready, if I had to – to kill or to be killed.
I didn’t care.
I was willing to fight for my family and was even willing to take a hit or a punch for them as long as they were safe and sound.
Fortunately the men were appeased and both them and their two female companions left the restaurant to take up their disagreement somewhere else.
My son-in-law the next day wrote the following on Facebook…
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God!!!” My father in-law broke up a fight tonight. Go Peter G. James Sinclair u r a mighty man of valor!!!!!
I responded with –
I had my right hand man beside me – my son-in-law. Thank you! Nothing like a quiet family dinner with ringside seats.’

My Youngest Daughter

Then just recently my youngest daughter was made to feel extremely uncomfortable by the approaches made to her by an elder gentleman. Now whether or not his approaches were intentional or ill founded we will never know – but they were at least inappropriate and disturbing to the point that my daughter rang me up in tears.
This required confrontation by myself that impacted and created quite a stir in that man’s family – but ultimately resolution, because I was willing to fight for my daughter. Not a physical fight. I did not raise my voice. I simply stated the facts and shed light on a situation that was inappropriate. I fought for what was right.
As a result I received this text from my daughter…
‘Thank you for being a strong man and sticking up for me.’
What are you willing to fight for?
Who are you willing to fight for?
Are you willing to pay the price to step up from your comfort zone?
Are you willing to stand out from the crowd?

I Have Fought All My Adult Life

I have fought my entire adult life for liberty, freedom, entrepreneurship, financial security, spiritual and biblical truth, and the fight will not stop until the day I leave this planet.
In the midst of that fight I have landed on the mat time and time again with the referee standing over me looking into my bloodied eyes counting down for the knockout.
But there’s something inside of me that lifts me up and off that mat time and time again, punch after punch – and that is that I am willing to fight for the air I breathe, the food I eat, the money I need, the life I want to lead, the safety and security I want to provide my family – and no man nor situation will take it from me because I believe that I have been born for a higher purpose on this earth than to simply take up space and suck up air.
I have a destiny. I have a purpose. I have a contribution. I have influence.
And I have a God-given responsibility to use the gifts that have been planted in my life to make a difference in the lives of those whom I come in contact with on a day-to-day basis.
I am called to be a light in a dark world, salt in an unsavory environment and a city set on a hill.
And that’s worth fighting for.
Refuse to be a coward.
You have what it takes to fight and to win.
You have what it takes to make a significant positive difference in your world – both now and into the future.
So fight – and make a HUGE difference.
