The British weltewerweight star could well be fighting his former Wild Card stablemate out in Dubai.
Khan is looking for an opponent after being snubbed by Mayweather and has already called Pacquiao out.
The pair are still friends and although Khan has been critical of his rival following his decision to fight Andre Berto on Septemebr 12, he admits he would copy Mayweather's gameplan if they do fight.
"To win a fight against someone like Pacquiao, the key is speed, movement and distance and that's how Mayweather beat him," he told Dubai 103.8.
"Floyd beat him by being sneaky and he made it look so easy.
"If you stick to the same gameplan that Mayweather used, then it's an all-day win for me."
Promoter Bob Arum is expected to hold talks with Khan and his team and even though he accused the Brit of "shooting his mouth off", the Top Rank supremo says the fight can be made.
Pacquiao expects to be ready to fight early next year following his now infamous shoulder injury but even though Khan was looking for a fight around November time, he is also confident.
"Yes, I think the fight can happen," he said.
"If it makes sense financially for both of us, then I think the fight will definitely happen.
"I think it makes sense for both of us to take it."
