Floyd Mayweather Bites Back at Ronda Rousey

The media-manufactured rivalry between arguably the two most dominate athletes on the planet continues to blossom.
On Thursday evening, Floyd Mayweather took a verbal swipe at the UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey in response to her slamming comments at the ESPYS last month. Speaking on ESPN’s popular SportsCenter, ‘Money’ said of ‘Rowdy':
“I’ve yet to see any MMA fighter, or other boxer, make over $300 million in 36 minutes.” “When she can do that, then call me.”
His scathing remark follows being called out by Rousey after she rightfully attained the Fighter of the Year award back in July. Resurrecting Mayweather’s past demons which showcase his history domestic violence, she offered:
“I wonder how Floyd feels being beaten by a woman for once…”
Rousey said she patiently waited an entire year before handing it to Mayweather, because she felt like he disrespected her in 2014 by claiming he didn’t know who she was.
“I know for damn sure that he knew who I was, because he was running against me for Best Fighter that year and he has signed MMA fighters,” Rousey said in July at a Los Angeles media day. “So his feigned ignorance was meant to be a snarky remark to me.”
Despite clear bad blood between the 12-0 UFC supremo and the 48-0 boxing legend, Mayweather did swallow some pride and shared kinder words.
“A while back I didn’t know who Ronda Rousey was, so I’m pretty sure she got upset. I want to say congratulations to Ronda Rousey and the UFC. You guys have done a tremendous job and I’ve won probably six or seven ESPYS for Fighter of the Year. And I truly believe she deserves it. Congratulations to Ronda Rousey.”
Following her emphatic 34 second win at UFC 190 against Bethe Correia on Saturday 1st August, Rousey has only had one professional fight to leave the first round. Mayweather’s most recent victory came after beating Manny Pacquiao in Las Vegas back in May. He is now preparing for a September 12th showdown with Andre Berto.
