THE October 24 world heavyweight title fight between WBA Super, IBF and WBO champion Wladimir Klitschko and his unbeaten, extrovert challenger Tyson Fury will be available as a Sky Box Office pay-per-view event, after both combatants confirmed this to us. A press conference featuring both men will follow later this month in London.
“I ain’t there to waste people’s hard-earned Sky Sports pay-per-view money, 20 pound a time,” Fury told Boxing News. “BoxNation had the chance to make the fight and they didn’t. I’m getting paid more money to go to Germany and that’s what it’s about for me, money. So you go where the money is.
Klitschko is delighted to return to the premium platform he last graced when outscoring David Haye in July 2011.
“I’ve been fighting already against David Haye on pay-per-view and we had great success with that,” he said to us. “The name Klitschko has been out there for a longer time, before Tyson. My brother was fighting for the [WBO] title in 1999 [in Milwall] and I was fighting in London as well with Monte Barrett [the following year]. I think my brother’s fight with Dereck Chisora and all the scandal, and my fight with David Haye, they have delivered exciting moments for the fans. People know what they are going to get if they buy the pay-per-view. I think this pay-per-view is going to do extremely well in England.”
Kell Brook vs Diego Chaves is also on the show.
