Unbeaten American superstar Floyd Mayweather Jr. is pushing himself hard for his upcoming title defense against Andre Berto as he is determined to end his career on a triumphant note.
Mayweather, who owns a pristine 48-0 win-loss record, has repeatedly said he plans to retire after fighting Berto on September 12 in Las Vegas.
"Any given Saturday, anything can happen," Mayweather said, as quoted by Boxing Scene, in a recent interview. "I'm not going to overlook this guy."
"I pushed myself more for this fight than I did for the (Manny) Pacquiao fight," he added.
Mayweather beat Pacquiao via unanimous decision when they fought in the so-called "Fight of the Century" last May 2, earning well over $200 million for one night's performance.
After four months, he returns to the ring for what he insists will be the last time.
"I've always said that 49 is my last fight," Mayweather said. "I've been pushed to the limit, and there's nothing left to accomplish."
"I think my health is more important. Anything can happen. I'm not too worried about losing, but I don't want to have a shot mind. You can make a lot of money, but you still want to be able to walk and talk and not have a shot mind," he added.
The American superstar, in an episode of the reality series "All Access," promised to put on a dominant performance against Berto, who is a massive underdog in next weekend's fight.
"I'm gonna send you back to your country," Mayweather promised. "We're sending them back to their country. Where's that boy from? Haiti?"
"This is his biggest payday," he also said. "What are you getting, $4 million? I got a car out there for $4.8 million."
