The heavyweight showdown was called off on Friday after the Ukrainian pulled out of their October date in Dusseldorf due to a calf injury
Tyson Fury claims Wladimir Klitschko is running scared after the world heavyweight king postponed their showdown with a calf injury.
Fury says he was expecting Klitschko to pull out of their October 24 clash because he feels he rattled him at Wednesday’s publicity stunt when he turned up dressed as Batman for their promotional event.
“You’ve got to wonder what’s going through their minds,” said the unbeaten Traveller.
“Am I that intimidating? Am I that scary? Batman worked a treat then didn’t it and cost me a fight again!
“When Peter [Fury] phoned me this morning and said it’s off, I half expected it anyway. We were about 75 per cent certain that he was going to pull out before he did so we were expecting that.”
Klitschko’s camp say they will announce the new November date for the fight next week and insist the venue will remain Dusseldorf’s Esprit Arena.
Fury has had David Haye and Dereck Chisora withdraw from fights and is skeptical that Klitschko will put his WBA Super, WBO and IBF titles on the line against him.
“I’m not 100 per cent because I’ve got good reason not to be,” he said. “I had a fight rescheduled before for a month and it didn’t happen.
“Klitschko, let’s hope he reschedules. Let’s hope he wants to do the fight again. He can’t go anywhere else. The only option is to retire, just like the other man did with no name.
“So am I going to be the man who retires people rather than fight me? Or is he going to fight? We’ll find out, but you can’t really tell.”
