Pacquiao, 36, went down to a sixth career defeat against the pound for pound king at the MGM Grand, although cited a shoulder injury in the aftermath for being unable to stop Mayweather’s amazing undefeated run.
Mosley, who faced both Pacquiao and Mayweather during his career, says more scrutiny should be given to the result as the former world champion believes the ‘Pacman’ may well have done enough to get the final verdict in Las Vegas.
“I believe Manny Pacquiao may have won the fight if you look at the statistics for the fight, although nobody talks about it,” Mosley exclusively told World Boxing News in an interview this week.
“Manny was in the red corner and the red corner won the fight as the red corner threw more punches. I also felt Manny threw more punches, but people just don’t talk about the red corner winning the fight – which was Manny Pacquiao. So there is still a question mark about that.”
The 44 year-old was also asked his opinion on a possible fight between Pacquiao and ex-super lightweight ruler Amir Khan - which is said to be in the pipeline, a fight that Mosley stated is possibly the top contest on offer for either boxer.
Ukrainian Viktor Postol is another contender to face Pacquiao, alongside Terence Crawford, and Mosley was impressed with the former when watching the Ukrainian stop Lucas Matthysse from ringside last week at the StubHub Center.
“Pacquiao v Khan might be the best fight out there right now, but I was at the Postol v Matthysse fight and he’s tall, rangy and could probably cause anyone problems,” said Mosley.
