Coca-Cola demanded Blatter step down immediately so that "credible and sustainable reform" can "begin in earnest" while McDonald's said his resignation would be "in the best interest of the game"
Sepp Blatter will NOT resign as FIFA president despite calls from sponsors for him to do so , a statement from his lawyer said.
Coca-Cola demanded Blatter step down immediately so that "credible and sustainable reform" can "begin in earnest" while McDonald's said his resignation would be "in the best interest of the game".
But Blatter, who is due to step down in February when a successor is elected, rejected the calls for him to go.
A statement from Blatter's lawyer Richard Cullen read: "While Coca-Cola is a valued sponsor of FIFA , Mr Blatter respectfully disagrees with its position and believes firmly that his leaving office now would not be in the best interest of FIFA nor would it advance the process of reform and, therefore, he will not resign."
Blatter - who is suspected of criminal mismanagement or misappropriation over a TV rights deal he signed with former Caribbean football chief Jack Warner in 2005 - faced calls for his immediate resignation last month as well, but rejected the demands saying he had done "nothing illegal or improper".
A statement from his attorney released at the time said: “President Blatter spoke to FIFA staff today and informed the staff that he was cooperating with the authorities, reiterated that he had done nothing illegal or improper and stated that he would remain as president of FIFA."
