GOALS SETTING FOR MONDAY

Goals is what makes athletes great athletes. The dreams we set for ourselves can not be achieved unless we set goals but not just goals, SMART goals.

S = Specific
M = Measurable
A = Attainable
R = Realistic
T = Timely

Specific – Your goals should be straightforward and to the point. This helps us to clearly define what you’re trying to achieve. Specific is What, Why and How.

■WHAT are you going to do? Use action words such as direct, organize, coordinate, lead, develop, plan, build etc.
■WHY is this important to do at this time? What do you want to ultimately accomplish?
■HOW are you going to do it?

Instead of setting a goal to finish a marathon.  Set a goal to run in under 4 hours.

Measurable – If you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it.  Choose a goal that you can track and monitor so let’s say that you choose to set a goal to run a marathon in under 4 hours.  How do you measure your progress?  By creating smaller goals along the way.  Let’s say you have a goal to run a half marathon 2-3 months prior to the marathon in 2 hours or less.  This would help measure your ultimate goal of a marathon under 4 hours.

Attainable – When you identify goals that are most important to you, you begin to figure out ways you can make them come true. You develop that attitudes, abilities, skills, and financial capacity to reach them. Your begin seeing previously overlooked opportunities to bring yourself closer to the achievement of your goals.

A goal needs to stretch you mentally and physically but it has to be realistic and should be a real committment to you where you must make sacrifices in order to reach your goal.

Realistic – Set goals that can be achieved.  This doesn’t mean to set goals that are easy but make sure you don’t just say for example that your goal is to break the world record in the marathon if you’ve never run a mile faster than 5 minutes because it would be safe to say that breaking the world record is not realistic.

Be sure to set goals that you can attain with some effort!  Too difficult and you set the stage for failure, but too low sends the message that you aren’t very capable. Set the bar high enough for a satisfying achievement!

Timely – It’s important to set a timeframe to achieve your goal.  If you put an end date on your goal, it gives you a clear target to work towards.  If you don’t set a time, the commitment is too vague. It tends not to happen because you feel you can start at any time. Without a time limit, there’s no urgency to start taking action now.  Time must be measurable, attainable and realistic.

It’s important to set goals in all aspects in life not just in sports.  Goals give us a purpose and something to work toward.  So now start working toward your dreams and once you achieve them, dream more.

Monday Quote that will boost your performance

Living a persistent life

“I press on toward the goal to win the prize . . . ” Philippians 3:14

Success is a journey, and persistence is one of the keys to success.

Persistence is enjoying the journey that lies between where you are now and where you are going. Don’t wait for tomorrow to enjoy the rewards that you hope for. Instead, enjoy today the person you’re becoming and the talents that you have.

Persistence is never giving up, never giving up, never giving up!

It is always too soon to quit. Persistence is going to the place where you failed before to try again. Persistence means not dwelling on what others think. Persistent people take action and don’t make excuses. Persistent people don’t doubt and don’t play the blame game.

Persistence means that you don’t do anything for others’ approval.

Persistent people have the habit of doing things that failures do not like to do. Persistent people do not like doing them either, but their dislike is subordinated to the strength of their purpose. If you have allowed yourself to develop a habit of making excuses for doing less than your best, make a commitment to change today.

Without persistence your dreams are an illusion. Persistent people face the jungles of life with the heart of a lion.

Persistence means flying high like an eagle in the middle of a storm.

Persistence means continuing to work hard when others have gone home.

Persistence is working out early when others are still sleeping.

Persistence is finishing what you have started. It is starting strong and finishing strong.

Persistence is acting with a sense of urgency, knowing that tomorrow is too late.

Persistence is knowing that you’ll never outgrow your fears unless you face them. So step out in faith and push through the fear. You must learn to fight with all your might, using your gifts and talents to compensate for your weaknesses and, if possible, to convert your weaknesses into strengths.

Persistence means that if you reach the end of your rope, just tie a knot and hold on. And if you get injured, you make a judgment call: “Can I continue?” If you can, bite down your pain and make the win all the more worthy, or come back to the battlefield to fight again once you have recovered.

Persistence is the inner flame that propels your soul toward the achievement of your dreams.

SHAKE IT OFF

Paul and his shipmate landed in an island name Melita.
Paul was helping to gather wood for fire ,as he laid his
bundles of sticks in the flames, a viper came out of the wood  and bits him and also hanged on his hand.
Vipers often appear in the fire of life but Paul shook off
the viper and the people waited to see what will happen
to him.
Paul faced a real life trial  when he was bitten by
a poisonous snake, but God in his infinite mercy fulfilled

His promise in Mark 16:18 "they shall take up serpent and if they drink any deadly thing it shall not hurt them. They shall lay hand on the sick and they shall recover"

What is the challenges you are facing like Paul? Is it
marriage issues,heartbreak ,financial crisis,trial and
temptation? God want you to call his name according

to Jeremiah 33:3 "Call unto me and I will answer thee and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not".

God want us to be like Paul in times of crisis, he did not allow fear to overtake him or weigh him down but he shook it off  through prayer  and studying the word  of God. People will be  watching you  to see  that  the problem either eats you up but you must be like Paul in all situation. Whatever the situation you find yourself like disappointment, failure, mere success syndromes, poverty, barrenness, frustration and depression have total faith in God that it will be flushed out in Jesus name  Amen.

CONSIDER YOURSELF A BETTER PERSON

You are only destined to become one person – the person you decide to be.

Do good and feel good.  Do bad and feel bad.  It’s that simple.

You are what you do today, not what you say you will do tomorrow.

We all make choices, but in the end our choices make us.

Ultimately, it’s not what you do every once in a while; it’s what you dedicate yourself to on a regular basis that makes the difference.

Stay true to yourself.  Never be ashamed of doing what feels right.  Decide what you think is right and stick to it.

If you don’t stand for anything, you will remain forever on your knees.

No amount of money will make you happy if you aren’t happy with yourself.

You know you have made the right decision when there is peace in your heart.

Don’t worry if your goals seem crazy to other people; oftentimes the crazy ideas are the ones that have the greatest impact.

If you’re thinking like everyone else, then you aren’t thinking.

Control your own destiny or someone else will try for you.

Sometimes standing up to your friends can be just as difficult as standing up to your enemies.

The unhappiest people in this world are the people who care the most about what everyone else thinks.

When people undermine your dreams, predict your doom, or criticize you, remember, they’re telling you their story, not yours.

There is a huge amount of freedom that comes to you when you take nothing personally.

No one in the world was ever you before, with your particular gifts and abilities and possibilities.

Your greatest task isn’t to find love, but to discover and destroy all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.

A loving, happy person lives in a loving, happy world.  A hateful, miserable person lives in a hateful, miserable world.  The world around you reflects YOU.

Worry gives small things a big shadow.

Synopsis

Considered one of the greatest boxers of all time, Sugar Ray Robinson was born in 1921. He turned pro in 1940 and won his first 40 fights. Over his 25-year career, Robinson won the world welterweight and middleweight crowns and was dubbed "pound for pound, the best." By 1958, he had become the first boxer to win a divisional world championship five times. He finished his career in 1965 with 175 victories. Robinson died in Culver City, California, in 1989.

Early Years

Sugar Ray Robinson was born Walker Smith Jr. on May 3, 1921, although the location is a source of debate. Robinson's birth certificate lists his place of birth as Ailey, Georgia, while the boxer stated in his autobiography that he was born in Detroit, Michigan. What is known is that Robinson grew up in Detroit, and he was 11 years old when his mother, tired of her husband's absence from the family's life, up and left the city, moving herself, her son and two daughters to Harlem.

But New York proved rough in other ways. With little money—Robinson helped his mother save for an apartment by earning change dancing for strangers in Times Square—the Smiths built their new life in a section of Harlem dominated by flophouses and gangsters.

Fearful that her son would get pulled into this shady world, Robinson's mother turned to the Salem Methodist Episcopal Church, where a man by the name of George Gainford had just started a boxing club.

It didn't take much for Robinson, who'd been a neighbor of heavyweight champ Joe Louis back in Detroit, to strap on fighting gloves. For the first bout of his career in 1936, he borrowed the Amateur Athletic Union card of another boxer, whose name was Ray Robinson, to enter the ring. Robinson wouldn't go by his birth name for the rest of his career. The nickname "Sugar" came from Gainford, who had described the young boxer as "sweet as sugar"; reporters soon began using the moniker.

"Sugar Ray Robinson had a nice ring to it," Robinson later said. "Sugar Walker Smith wouldn't have been the same."

The young boxer quickly moved up the ranks. He won his first Golden Gloves title (featherweight) in 1939, and then repeated the accomplishment in 1940. He turned pro that same year.

Pro Career

In a career that spanned 25 years, Robinson amassed 175 wins, 110 knockouts and just 19 losses.

Robinson began his career with an astonishing 40 straight victories and was called the "uncrowned champion" by boxing fans on account that the mob, who Robinson refused to play nice with, denied him the chance to fight for the world welterweight title until after the war. When Robinson finally did get his shot at the belt in 1946, he took home the crown with a unanimous 15-round decision over Tommy Bell; Robinson would hold the welterweight title until 1951. Six years later, Robinson captured the middleweight title for the first time by defeating Jake LaMotta. By 1958, he had become the first boxer to win a divisional world championship five times.

Robinson's ability to cross weight classes caused boxing fans and writers to dub him "pound for pound, the best," a sentiment that that has not faded over the years. Muhammad Ali liked to call Robinson "the king, the master, my idol." Robinson inspired Ali's famous matador style, which he used to defeat Sonny Liston for the heavyweight title in 1964. In 1984 The Ring magazine placed Robinson No. 1 in its book "The 100 Greatest Boxers of All Time."

Outside of the ring, Robinson relished his celebrity, parading around Harlem with a pink Cadillac and making appearances at his high-profile Harlem nightclub. Wherever he went, he brought a large entourage of trainers, women and family members. Robinson, who was unapologetic for his lavish spending, is estimated to have earned more than $4 million as a fighter, all of which he burned through, forcing him to continue boxing much longer than he should have.

Robinson finally retired from the sport for good in 1965. Two years later, he was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.

Personal Life

In his later years, Robinson worked in show business, even doing some television acting. The work greatly helped salvage his finances and was the reason he eventually settled in Southern California with his second wife, Millie. Robinson, who had a son from a previous marriage, helped raise Millie's two children.

In his last years Robinson battled Alzheimer's disease and diabetes. He died at the Brotman Medical Center in Culver City, California, on April 12, 1989.

KEYS TO A BETTER WILLPOWER

 Keys To Better Willpower

“I am, indeed, a king, because I know how to rule myself.”
Pietro Aretino

Willpower. Self-control. Self discipline.  These are many names that all mean the same thing: having the mental strength and attitude to consciously do the things you know you must do; even when you don’t emotionally want to.

In Fact....
A lack of willpower (not being able to stick to your priorities) is one of the  reasons people fail.
Higher willpower is associated with being happier, scoring higher on standardized tests and earning more money.  Willpower is also highly correlated with accomplishing personal goals.

What you may not know however, is that willpower is a resource that you can call upon – and at the same time, it is also a skill that you can  improve.

I will show you scientific, research backed way you can improve your own personal self discipline today

#1: Remove Temptation
Willpower is a limited resource – so don’t waste it.  Everytime you need to tell yourself “no” to a temptation in front of you, you slowly deplete your willpower – and it takes time to replenish. So whenever possible: remove the temptations from your life.

For example, if you know that you watch too much TV, and need to focus on a project for the next month – cancel your cable, or physically unplug your TV from the wall.

#2: Stabilize Blood Sugar
Low blood sugar is associated with diminished self discipline.   Avoid eating sugary foods such as candy or high sugar drinks.  Of course, it’s a bit of a health risk– it takes self discipline to avoid eating tasty, sugary foods to begin with!

#3: Sleep
Make sure you get enough of it.  Research has shown that the ability to maintain focus on tasks suffers due to lack of sleep.

#4: Enjoy Life
Positive emotional experiences replenish your self discipline reserve.   So throughout the day – take a few moments to enjoy your life

Take breaks and run, play guitar, hike and do other activities that inspire you – find what works for you.

#5: Avoid and Reduce Stress
Stress has shown to deplete self discipline.  Reducing commitments, breathing exercises and yoga has personally helped me reduce stress in my life.

#6: Have a Plan
Research shows that when your willpower starts getting depleted, having a plan and a goal you are chasing can help mitigate the effects of lowered willpower.

In The Action Solution,  take you step by step through how to set a path for your life and a specific plan to achieve it.

People with good plans still fail – it’s no guarantee you’ll succeed, but it definitely makes it more likely.

#7: Self Affirmations
Similar to positive emotional experiences, self affirmations have been shown to help replenish depleted willpower.

#8: Bonus: Strengthen Your Willpower
Self discipline is a muscle – focus on small tasks that you can control, and your ability to stick to larger tasks will slowly increase.

Some examples of exercise include straightening your posture and using your non-dominant hand for tasks.
